Our Sponsorships

At Baskerville e-Media, we are proud to sponsor initiatives that strengthen both the legal profession and the wider community. Alongside our work with Local Law Societies and Barristers’ Circuits across England and Wales—supporting training, events, and networking opportunities for solicitors and barristers—we also sponsor New Brighton Town AFC, helping to promote grassroots sport and community engagement.

Through our specialist digital publications, we enable societies and circuits to connect with members, inspire future legal talent, and uphold their long-standing traditions. Our ongoing commitment ensures these organisations, and the communities they serve, continue to thrive.

Origins & Early Years

he original New Brighton A.F.C. was founded in 1921, taking over the Lancashire Combination membership of the bankrupt South Liverpool. They played their early matches at Sandheys Park on Rake Lane, from which their nickname, “The Rakers,” is believed to have originated.

Football League Era

In 1923, after two successful seasons in the Lancashire Combination, New Brighton A.F.C. were elected to the Football League’s Third Division North. Their time in the League lasted until 1951, when they failed re-election and were replaced by Workington. During the Second World War, their home ground at Sandheys Park was destroyed by bombing, forcing the club to relocate to the Tower Athletic Ground after the war.

The Present

In 2023, a new team was formed under the name New Brighton Town AFC, reviving the original emblem and traditions of the historic club. Entering the Wallasey and District Sunday League for the 2023–24 season, the club set out with clear ambitions: in the short term, to progress into the semi-professional West Cheshire League, and in the long term, to restore league football to New Brighton, aiming to climb the pyramid to levels seen at clubs like Tranmere Rovers.
